Bob LaRose waters third venture with up to $40M

- Washington Business Journal

History

Unprecedented Growth and Success

Agilex was founded by Bob LaRose and Jay Nussbaum in 2007. Both were well-known members of the Northern Virginia technology community. Agilex fulfilled their long-term desire to combine the best practices they had pioneered throughout their careers to create the industry’s premier government solution provider.

LaRose had previously founded and led two extremely successful information technology companies. Advanced Technology, Inc. (ATI) grew to over 2,000 employees with $180M in revenue before being acquired by Emhart/Black & Decker in 1988. Integic (originally Universal Systems, Inc.) had revenue of approximately $180M and 600 employees when the company was acquired by Northrop Grumman in 2005. Prior to the acquisition, Integic was recognized in 2004 as the Greater Washington Midsize Government Contractor of the Year.

Nussbaum enjoyed similar success through his leadership within such esteemed organizations as Citibank Global Transaction Services, BearingPoint, Inc., Oracle and Xerox. Under his management, Oracle Service Industries grew from $60 million to $1.5 billion and he was also credited with the successful launch of the Managed Services organization at BearingPoint.

They had met initially thirty years prior at the beginning of their successful professional careers. Over time, a great business relationship and friendship formed with the two executives vowing to work together at some point to create a truly spectacular firm.

That time arrived March 19, 2007, when Agilex Technologies was established with the support of a handful of trusted business colleagues. By September 17, 2007, when the company formally commenced operations within its new 80,000 square foot headquarters facility, Agilex had grown to thirty eight employees, who are commemorated in a Founders’ plaque in the corporate auditorium.

Unlike a traditional start-up, the founders invested early in creating the management team, infrastructure and resources of the much larger company that they planned to become. With this foundation in place, the team set forth to recruit distinguished government and technology leaders to address the most complex challenges facing federal agencies. Agilex quickly established itself with these organizations as their go to partner for innovative solutions delivered on-time and on-budget.

Subsequently, Agilex has established itself as the one of the industry’s fastest growing and most successful technology providers to the federal government. Many of our accolades can be found in the Awards Section of our website.

With Agilex growing three times faster than his previous firms, Bob LaRose recognized that his vision of creating his most successful company yet was well underway. While driving the business to higher goals for 2010, Bob LaRose passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2010. He will be remembered as a true pioneer and visionary in the industry.
