Agilex Technologies Expands Information Security and Assurance Offering with HBGary Alliance
New Relationship Brings Together Advanced Technology and Deep Expertise to Help Government Agencies Counter the Growing Sophistication of Cyber Attacks and Malware Threats
Chantilly, VA - February 9, 2009 - Agilex Technologies, Inc., a leading IT solution provider serving the government, healthcare and commercial sectors, today announced a new strategic relationship with HBGary, a leading provider of computer forensic, incident response and security assessment solutions. Under the agreement, Agilex will strengthen and extend its Information Security & Assurance portfolio with the addition of HBGary Responder Professional as an available product offering. HBGary Responder is the industry’s most advanced memory investigation and malware analysis system for the Microsoft Windows® platform. The new alliance will help the two companies better address the breadth of external security threats facing the government’s most critical IT systems.
“New tools and more innovative strategies are needed to combat the growing sophistication and frequency of attacks on our critical Internet infrastructure. The new administration has recognized this need and has made strengthening cyber security a core component of the nation’s homeland security strategy,” said John Edwards, president of Agilex’s Intelligence, Security and Defense sector business. “In support of this strategy, we are excited to be working closely with HBGary. The HBGary approach to malicious code detection and elimination is unique as it provides visibility at a more granular level than traditional security software. As a result, it empowers organizations to detect today’s advanced threats more readily and get in front of them with unprecedented speed and precision. These powerful capabilities will further enhance our comprehensive approach to information security and assurance.”
HBGary is led by Greg Hoglund, one of the pioneers and leaders in the cyber security field. The company specializes in advanced memory forensics and automated reverse engineering to detect, diagnose and respond to real-time attacks. HBGary Responder Professional, the company’s flagship product, provides security professionals with an extremely powerful tool that can be used to analyze computer memory and automatically reverse engineer malware attacks. By identifying the source and nature of the threat, organizations can more readily mitigate risk by taking corrective action.
“In the past, malware was generally associated with hackers seeking an opportunity to boost their reputation online. Today, the threat landscape has completely changed. Most of the malware we are seeing is written by skilled professionals using military-grade code to slip past traditional defenses and attack critical infrastructure,” said Rich Cummings, chief technology officer, HBGary. “We are working closely with our customers throughout the government to take the offensive against these threats so that they can be contained and disarmed. By partnering with Agilex, we are enhancing our delivery capability while ensuring that our technology can be more readily integrated into a comprehensive information security architecture.”
The Information Security & Assurance teams at Agilex and HBGary bring together accredited information security veterans, domain experts from the Defense, Intelligence, Homeland Security and Healthcare sectors, and data management professionals. Working as an integrated team, they help government agencies implement and comply with key requirements, such as DCID 6/3, DIACAP, FISMA, HIPAA and 800-53, without jeopardizing required access to information. Key components of the portfolio include:
- Network Security & Forensics – More than border control, the Agilex/HBGary team helps organizations construct a comprehensive and redundant security architecture while also taking advantage of network forensics to analyze attacks and prevent security breaches.
- Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing – Delivered as either a black box or full-view scenario, the Agilex/HBGary team assesses both the design and implementation of security controls with penetration testing used to deliver maximum assurance.
- Intrusion Prevention & Detection – Agilex and HBGary engineers have years of experience in optimizing the implementation of integrated IP/ID networks that serve as critical components of a secure and robust architecture.
The addition of HBGary Responder will strengthen each aspect of the portfolio. The Agilex/HBGary alliance also leverages Agilex’s certified facility and cleared personnel to configure and implement the HBGary technology for the nation’s most critical infrastructures.
