Learn How Agile Software Development Can Deliver Better Solutions Faster

Major government IT projects are often challenged by frequent delays and don't readily accommodate changing requirements. What's clear is that traditional approaches to software development have proven ill-suited for the more dynamic missions and tighter budgets federal agencies face today. As a result, both the Office of Management & Budget (OMB) and the Department of Defense (DoD) have mandated that major IT programs adopt iterative delivery models, such as agile software development.

Agile is specifically designed to accelerate time-to-value while maintaining closer line-of-sight alignment with program objectives. As a more collaborative, empirical and iterative approach to managing software development projects, agile delivers a number of significant benefits, including:

• Faster software delivery
• Greater responsiveness to changing requirements
• Better transparency and accountability
• More effective solutions

Agile also encompasses a number of specialized techniques, such as continuous integration and integrated testing, to improve software quality and developer productivity.

Within government, agile has proven well suited for a number of scenarios, particularly projects with fixed delivery timeframes and/or budgets. Despite the challenges inherent in creating a nationwide health information exchange network from scratch, such as the lack of detailed specifications, agile allowed the CONNECT solution for the Federal Health Architecture to be developed in under a year with additional functionality added quarterly. Based on these early successes, a number of best practices for using agile in a government setting have emerged, such as integration with earned value management systems.

Ready to learn more? Join us for an exclusive webinar exploring how agile can be used to execute major government IT programs. During this presentation, you will learn the benefits of using agile, when best to apply it, and how to integrate it into your existing software development processes. This insight will prepare you to meet the new mandates established by OMB and DoD.
